Video and Digital Storytelling Projects
I am an aspiring digital storyteller. I have developed my videography
skills through both personal projects (not linked here), professional
projects, and formal instructional training workshops.
- Celebrate Oklahoma Voices Project:
I serve as a project facilitator for this statewide digital storytelling
initiative, which started in
the winter of 2006 as "The Oklahoma Digital Centennial Project." Our
focus in the winter of 2007/2008 and spring of 2008 is Veteran Oral
History.
- Oklahoma Digital Learning Project
2007 Hawaii / USS Oklahoma Memorial Dedication Project: I helped coordinate this distributed learning initiative
and shared
a variety of multimedia artfacts during and after this fantastic
collaboration. December 2007.
- Great Book Stories
Project: I am one of the organizers of this ongoing
digital storytelling project open to learners of all ages. Although
participants can use any digital tools they like, most of the projects
now included on the "Listen
and See" page of the project wiki were
created with VoiceThread.
- VoiceThread Digital Stories: I have published a variety of digital
stories on VoiceThread.com, but unfortunately the site does not presently
create a dynamic, linked list of digital stories by author. My
VoiceThread "USS Oklahoma Memorial and Ford Island" is
representative of digital stories I have created using this website.

Favorite Quotations
- "It's philosophy, not technology, that is going to make a difference in your classroom." - Dr Allen Glenn, Dean of COE, Univ of Washington
- "Nothing will bring you happiness but the triumph of principles." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
- Others included on my favorite quotations page and Christian Resources page.
Favorite Websites
Many of my favorites are located on my "Tools
for the TEKS: Integrating Technology in the Classroom" GOOD WEBSITES
page and my personal "Just
for Fun" page. (Those static pages are a bit dated.)
Currently, I save all my Internet bookmarks or favorites on my
del.icio.us social bookmarking website.
Book Ideas
I have put thought into several book ideas. Completing my dissertation
is my top writing priority for 2008. I would like, however, to author
books on "The Educational
Technology Gourmet" with Karen Montgomery, and a book on "Digital
Dialog" to accompany the social
network and wiki I maintain. Those writing
projects may advance in 2008, as long as work on my dissertation also
moves forward.
Prior to 2007 I shared some of my initial work on "Digital
Discipline: Guarding Hearts and Minds in a Mediacentric Culture." online at www.digitaldiscipline.net.
Another possibility is"Digital Dishonesty: Plagiarism, Hacking
and Pedagogy in the 21st Century Classroom," which would
build on other writings I've done previously on this subject. When
I finish my doctorate, I really want to write a book called "The
School I Love," focused on school reform issues. I also
want to write a book titled "Publish at Will," and
I have even
drafted one chapter!
Other Important Experiences
I am an Eagle Scout and was an AFS exchange student to New Zealand in 1987.
